The Yiddish Press
Between 1930 and 1939, the American Yiddish press circulated 4-5 major daily newspapers in New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia along with dozens of weeklys. Prominent presses included The Forward (Der Forverts) and The Day (Der Tog). Just as American presses did, Yiddish Presses wrote about the German American Bund Camps extensively. The Day wrote in 1938 that Camp Seigfried aimed to serve the interests of the “Hitler” (or German) Bund in America. Specifically naming the Bund as an antisemitic organization in America, Der Tog focuses on the antisemitic nature of these camps over their un-Americaness, as the American press does.
